Eco-minded Club presents amazing invention of a Russian gardener Vladimir Fokin (Russian Federation patent #2040133): ploskorez, Russian flat-cutter, cultivator Fokina or Fokin hoe, as Sepp Holzer calls it, Ploskorez Fokina ("ploskorez" means flat-cutter) - a simple and versatile permaculture tool to replace usual gardening tools like spade, hoe, rakes etc, simplifying 20 gardening operations and essential for no-till gardening.
Standard Ploskorez Fokina consists of a steel plate bent in 4 different directions at specific angles (see the picture) and a long wooden flat handle. Three of the cutting surfaces of the plate are sharpened. The blades of the cutting part of the ploskorez must always be sharpened to reduce the resistance of the soil and cutting plants.

Svetlana Ksenz:"The name of our project has appeared without a special effort. One beautiful day It has come …"
Svetlana, what was your life like before you decided to move to the country house? We lived in Krasnodar and had a rather common business – cabinet furniture assembly. It was very different life. We dreamed to leave the city and were looking for the piece of land not far from the city. And we found at 45 km from the city, in Ilsky village. It was an ancient Caucasian settlement. People lived there for centuries and there were many dolmens around. There was also Sinegorje – Vedrussia, a Kins domain settlement nearby where we have our own family homestead (Kins domain) now.
Svetlana, what is your educational background? I am a dress-designer and I am still making clothes for my family and friends… But five years ago, when we moved to the country side, I realized that my mission was very different one.
Are you happy now? Yes, of course. Though the first year was very difficult for me, we all were settling into a new life. Perhaps, it was difficult because I lived in the city for a long time and everything was new for me in the country side, and I couldn`t see my friends often. We could not feel the place and what we could do there. The business in the city was shut down, and there was no new activity. All the first year we were trying to forget the city life and get ajusted into the country life. Then I got pregnant.
We have just tried an unusual way to start seeds without any soil at all. It has worked so well that we can't resist sharing it with you.
So, here is what you do. 1. Take an empty plastic bottle with no cap and cut it carefully lengthwise - you get 2 halves. 2. Take the cheapest toilet paper (no odours, no color) and cover the bottom of each half-bottle with a few layers (6-8). 3. Pour some water over the paper layers until it's wet completely, then tilt it bottleneck down to pour out axcess water. 4. Put the seeds on the wet paper and slightly pin each seed down with a finger tip. 5. Place a plastic bag over the half-bottle to make sure that all moisture will stay inside. 6. Leave it this way for 2-3 weeks and watch the seeds growing inside!
Lyapko Applicators are elastic plates and rollers, with needles made of different metals that are necessary for the body: zinc, copper, iron, nickel, silver.
Applicators are meant for utilization onto any parts of the body (most often to the spine). The healing process is based on method of surface multi-needle therapy as one of the forms of acupuncture. High therapeutic efficiency is achieved due to galvanic currents created in the skin, on the points of the needles and between the needles, which leads to an increased selective metal micro-electrophoresis within the internal environment of the body.
In Russian folk tradition doll is not just a toy, it symbolize a person. In this role it focuses on time, history, culture of the country and its people, reflecting the process of their development. Doll is a way to learn more about life both of those who create it and of those who play with it. In present-day Russia it becomes the live means for communication and folk traditions study. In past this small human-like figurine played a magical role, was a sort of an amulet. It “took part” in different rituals, festivals associated with the real life events – birth of a new baby, wedding ceremony, death etc.
There is a surprising similarity of dolls in different nations. They are connected not only by origin (toy dolls usually come from ritual ones) but also by generally accepted human values and ideas: procreation, parents’ care, attitude to the ancestors. Hand-made toys served to our ancestors as a sort of genetic code showing landmarks in their life cycle. That’s why there were accidents in the process of their making - everything was meaningful.

Effective microorganism technology has been used in the fields of agriculture and forestry recently. This technology is totally natural and environmentally friendly. BAIKAL EM1, a product of this technology, includes the photosynthetic lactic bacteria, ferments and products that are formed by the metabolism activities of these ferments and bacteria (enzymes, vitamins etc.) This microbiological fertilizer has a positive eefect in growing plants; to their development and metabolism.
You can plant vegetable seeds indoors or outdoors. If you plant seeds indoors, you transplant them into your garden later. With direct seeding, you skip the indoor step and sow the seeds directly in your garden. If you're serious about growing vegetables, you'll probably end up using both options. Consider these points when making your choice:
