Russia as a Gateway to Affordable Dental Care
In recent years, the concept of medical tourism has gained significant traction worldwide, with individuals seeking cost-effective yet high-quality healthcare solutions beyond their borders. Among the various branches of medical tourism, stomatological tourism, or dental tourism, has emerged as a popular choice for those in need of dental treatments at more affordable prices. Russia, with its burgeoning medical infrastructure and skilled professionals, has increasingly become a sought-after destination for stomatological tourism. Let's delve into the benefits and allure of dental care in Russia.
Advanced Facilities and Expertise
Russia boasts a robust healthcare system, characterized by state-of-the-art facilities and a wealth of experienced dental professionals. Not only across major cities, like Moscow and St. Petersburg but also in small towns and in the most remote parts of Russia modern dental clinics equipped with cutting-edge technology offer a comprehensive range of dental services, from routine check-ups to advanced procedures like dental implants and cosmetic dentistry.
Cost-Effective Solutions
One of the primary drivers behind stomatological tourism to Russia is the significant cost advantage it offers compared to Western countries. Dental treatments in Russia are often substantially cheaper, with savings ranging from 200 to 300% (!) on average. This affordability makes it an attractive option for individuals facing exorbitant dental care costs in their home countries, especially those without adequate insurance coverage.
According to the 2022 study by "Secret Firmy," which analyzed dental service prices in Russia, Moscow and St. Petersburg emerge as the cities with the highest prices for dental services. However, these two capitals are not alone in their high costs. The study revealed that cities like Krasnogorsk, Murmansk, Petrozavodsk, Blagoveshchensk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky also rank among the most expensive cities for dental treatments.
Conversely, for those seeking cost-effective solutions without compromising on quality, certain cities in Russia stand out. Tver, Krasnodar, and Novosibirsk have garnered attention for offering competitive prices for dental services. In fact, these cities have secured top positions in the survey conducted by Tvil.ru, a travel service, titled "10 Most Popular Cities for Stomatological Tourism." Tver clinched the top spot with 21% of the votes, followed closely by Krasnodar with 18%, and Novosibirsk with 17%.
Quality Assurance
While cost savings are undoubtedly appealing, stomatological tourists are also drawn to Russia for its commitment to quality and safety standards. Dental clinics in Russia adhere to rigorous regulatory guidelines and maintain high standards of hygiene and patient care. Moreover, many dentists and specialists in Russia have received international training and certifications, ensuring that patients receive treatment of the highest caliber.
Comprehensive Services
Whether it's routine dental procedures, orthodontic treatments, or complex restorative work, Russian dental clinics offer a wide spectrum of services to cater to diverse patient needs. Moreover, many clinics provide personalized treatment plans tailored to individual requirements, ensuring optimal outcomes and patient satisfaction.
Cultural Experience
Beyond dental care, stomatological tourism in Russia offers an enriching cultural experience. Visitors have the opportunity to explore iconic landmarks, immerse themselves in Russian art and culture, and savor the country's rich culinary heritage. From the grandeur of the Kremlin to the beauty of the Hermitage Museum, Russia offers a myriad of attractions that complement the dental tourism experience.
Ease of Access
Russia's strategic location, coupled with well-developed transportation infrastructure, makes it easily accessible to international travelers. Major cities are served by modern airports offering convenient connections to destinations worldwide. Additionally, many dental clinics in Russia provide assistance with travel arrangements, accommodation, and language interpretation services, ensuring a seamless experience for overseas patients.

All on 4 implants example.
The entire implantation process consists of several stages.
Stage 1. Consultation, preparation and planning of implantation (may take 1 to 7 days). It includes: radiologic examination, panoramic image and computed tomography of the entire jaw. May also include professional oral cleaning and sanitation.
Stage 2. Bone augmentation - if necessary.
Stage 3: Surgery: Implantation of the implants. The placement time for all 4 implants ranges from 2 to 3 hours. At the end of the procedure all tissues are put back in place and sutures are placed, which are removed on 5-7 days after surgery. A temporary acrylic denture is also fitted at this stage.
The integration of implants takes between 2 months and 6 months (!). This process is slower in the upper jaw than in the lower jaw.
Stage 4. Permanent prosthetics. A permanent jaw denture is installed 2-4 months after the complete integration of the implants. The fabrication of the jaw prosthesis will take approximately 7-10 days.
Considering the above information I suppose that you will need to apply for a multiple entry visa because you may need to come to Russia several times (at least twice ) - first time you come for 3-4 weeks to go through stages 1-3 and second time you come for stage 4.
