Red-leaf hazelnut is a tall (over 5 m), heat-loving shrub that grows in central and in the south of Russia. It has red foliage from spring through early August. It can be used as an ornamental plant as well as a fruit plant because of its brightly colored, distinctive foliage and tasty, thin-shelled nuts.
